4th Canadian Ranger Patrol Group

Role: The role of the Rangers is "to provide a military presence in those sparsely settled northern, coastal and isolated areas of Canada which can not conveniently or economically be covered by other elements of the military."

Mission: The mission of the Rangers is to "provide lightly equipped, self-sufficient, mobile forces in support of the Canadian Forces' sovereignty and domestic operation tasks."

The 4th Canadian Ranger Patrol Group (4 CRPG) accomplishes this mission with Canadian Ranger patrols located in 42 remote, northern and coastal communities across Canada's four western provinces. 4 CRPG currently has 1012 Canadian Rangers. Additionally, 4 CRPG manages the Junior Canadian Rangers (JCRs) in western Canada. The JCRs are similar to Cadets, but concentrate more on Ranger and traditional skills, in addition to limited military skills. 4 CRPG currently has 28 Junior Ranger Patrols consisting of around 770 youth and 359 adult committee members from their communities who assist our Canadian Rangers in supporting the JCRs.
