EME Branch Chief Warrant Officer

CWO Alain Bergeron was born on April 28, 1962, in Montréal PQ.  He enrolled in the CF in April 1980, completing his basic training and English courses at CFB St-Jean.  He then completed his Basic Driving Training at CFB Borden during the winter of 1980.  In April 1981, he returned to CFB St-Jean to complete his Vehicle Technician (Veh Tech) qualification level 3 (QL 3) course. Upon completion of this training, he was posted to 5 Service Battalion (5 Svc Bn) at CFB Valcartier.

After several exercises he volunteered to go to Cyprus in 1985 with the 3rd Battalion, Royal 22e Regiment (3 R22R).  After returning from his tour, he was posted to 3 R22R.  Promoted to MCpl in 1987, he would remain with the R22R one more year before being posted to the Canadian Forces Technical School (CF Tech S) in St-Jean in 1988.

Promoted to Sgt in 1993, he was posted to Shilo, Manitoba.  Among many other projects he was involved in while in Shilo, he was responsible for the reorganization of the production following the move into the new Base maintenance Workshop facilities.  

Promoted to WO in 1997, he returned to Valcartier with 5e Régiment d’artillerie légère du Canada (5 RALC) as the Battery’s WO.  During his time there, he was deployed in support of relief efforts during the ice storm crisis in the St-Jean area. He then moved to ASU Valcartier in 2000 to supervise the VIP IRIS fielding project.  Posted to 5 General Support Battalion (5 GS Bn) in 2001, he acted as Ops WO for maintenance while continuing to carry on with the Iris project simultaneously. He was promoted to MWO and posted to St-Hubert in 2002 as Pl Cmdr.  In 2003, his work with the IRIS project was officially recognized and he was awarded the SQFT Cmdr certificate of appreciation.  In 2004, he deployed with ROTO 14 as CSM in Velika Kladusa (VK) Bosnia. 

Promoted to CWO in 2006, he was posted as A4 EME 3 with 1 Canadian Air Division (1 CAD) in Winnipeg. He was principally responsible for all EME resources within the Air Force.  Following this, in 2008 he was posted to 202 Workshop Depot and appointed regimental sergeant major (RSM). In July 2010, he was appointed as the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Branch Chief Warrant Officer. He is married with Diane Doucet and they have 4 children.
