EME Branch Chief Warrant Officer

CWO St-Jean was born on 16 October 1957 in Lachine QC. He joined the Canadian Forces on 22 September 1976 as a Vehicle Technician (Veh Tech) 411 in the Electrical Mechanical Engineering (EME) Branch.

After Basic and Occupation training in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu QC, he was posted to London ON as a trainee with the Base Workshop. Upon reaching qualification level (QL) 4, he served with 1 RCR as a Mobile Repair Team (MRT) member. From April to October 1979, he deployed with 73 rd Service Battalion (Svc Bn) in Ismalia, Egypt where he was employed as a First Line technician. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal upon his return to Canada and back to Base Workshop where he was employed with the Militia Servicing Section (MSS) until summer 1981.

In July 1981, he was posted to 1R22R in Lahr, GE where he was employed as a Mobile Repair Team (MRT) member and later, MRT commander. Promoted to the rank of Master Corporal in July 1985, he was posted to l'École technique des Forces canadiennes (ETFC) in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu QC as an instructor for QL3 Veh Techs.

He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1990 and posted to Base Workshop Edmonton AB where he was employed sequentially as the Airfield Support Maintenance Section supervisor and local contract NCO.

In July 1993, he was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer and posted to 5RALC in Valcartier QC as a production WO. During his stay with the Regiment, he was deployed with GT 3R22R in Visoko, Bosnia from April to November 1995 as the production WO and with the Groupe Logistique du Contingent Canadien (GLCC) in Port-au-Prince, Haïti from September 1996 to May 1997 as the Control WO.

Promoted to the rank of Master Warrant Officer in June 1998, he was posted to 1 GS Bn Edmonton where he was employed mainly as Vehicle platoon 2IC. During his stay with the Battalion, he deployed to Velika Kladusa, Bosnia as the Equipment Technical Quarter Master Sergeant (ETQMS) and, when support functions were awarded to a civilian agency, deployed as the Contract manager for Maintenance issues. Following the events of September 11 th 2001, he deployed from February to September 2002, as part of TF SWA-LOC with the Strategic Lines of Communication (SLOC) as the Company Sergeant-Major (CSM) in Doha, Qatar in support of the war on terrorism.

Promoted CWO in August 2003, he was posted with the Director General Canadian Forces Grievance Authority (DGCFGA) in Ottawa as an analyst. He was then posted to Director General Military Careers (DGMC) in June 2005 as the Veh Tech controlled ranks Career Manager. He was appointed as the Director General Land Equipment Program Management (DGLEPM) Divisional CWO and Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Branch Chief Warrant Officer effective 12 July 07.
