The Rocky Mountain Rangers is a Primary Reserve infantry unit of the Canadian Forces and is located at J. R. Vicars Armoury in Kamloops, BC. As an infantry unit, our main focus is to provide trained infantry soldiers to meet the operational requirements of the Canadian Forces.

What makes our unit unique is our training areas, location and our Leadership. Our training grounds are unique in the sense that they offer realistic environments you will encounter throughout the world. Between Prince George and Kamloops we have a wide variety of terrain, including mountains and deserts and weather (cold, hot, wet and humid. Other than military factors such as being close to great training areas we are close to all amenities as well as Thompson Rivers University.

While our primary role is that of an Infantry Unit, we also offer non-combat roles as well which includes an amazing Supply Technician and Orderly Room Team.

B Company, The Rocky Mountain Rangers is a Primary Reserve Infantry unit based out of Prince George, BC. Our main tasks are being prepared to respond on short notice to domestic emergencies within our local area and to provide trained soldiers to meet the operational requirements of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Join Our Unit

We train on Wednesday nights 7 - 10 pm. 39 CBG is the largest Army formation in British Columbia with 11 Units throughout the province.  We are actively recruiting officers and non-commissioned members with technical interests to fill part-time positions. To apply, you must meet the following basic Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve eligibility requirements:

  • Must be a Canadian citizen
  • Must be a least 16 years of age (and have parental consent)
  • Must have a minimum Grade 10 education (or higher depending on entry plan).

Our History

This Reserve Force regiment originated in Nelson, British Columbia on April 1, 1908, when the 102nd Regiment was authorized to be formed.
