Formed in 1998, 1 Area Support Group has established its reputation in its ability to sustain operations at home and abroad by enabling the success of the formations and units that we support.  The soldiers, sailors, airmen and women who make up this formation represent every Corps and Branch of the Canadian Forces, each of which bring a long history of support to the Forces.  Operations reaching as far back as South Africa, the First and Second World Wars and Korea depended on these soldiers for the successes achieved in the face of the enemy.  

Since then, every Canadian peacekeeping or warfighting mission throughout the world has also relied on these soldiers who continue to fight and sustain in Afghanistan today.

In doing so, they and those they support are backed by a large, dedicated civilian workforce without whom our success on operations would not be possible.

Spanning four provinces, three time zones and made up of 11 different units, 1 Area Support Group proudly lives up to its motto and enables the success of Land Force Western Area.
