Cells were implemented in each of the Land Force Areas under the Land Force Reserve Restructure MIP Phase II initiative. The cell in LFWA officially stood up on 9 July 2006.
Our role is to coordinate/manage training for LFWA Reservists in the following Support (Combat Service Support) Trades: Veh Tech, Wpns Tech, RMS, Sup Tech, Cook and MSE Op.
The following is the type of training we manage for those trades:
Formal Trades Courses This involves identification, prioritization, nomination and tracking of individual Reservists onto their formal trades courses conducted both in CFB Borden and LFWA.
On Job Training (OJT) The cell will be responsible to coordinate the delivery of OJT in an efficient and consistent manner across LFWA. OJT training will take place in the nearest Reg Force Support Base as soon as possible after a student completes their QL3 course.
Skills Maintenance Training This cell will also be responsible for managing Skills Maintenance Training. The purpose of this training is to maintain and enhance the trade skills of the Reservist through employment in trade related work.
Generic CSS Skills Training We will work with WATC Det Edmonton (formerly CSS Training Company) in order to facilitate the Reserve Brigades getting students on courses such as Driver Training, QL 3 Courses for MSE Op, RMS, and Supp Techs, etc.
