Exercise ARCTIC RAM 2012

Exercise ARCTIC RAM is the name of 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group’s inaugural training exercise which is being conducted in the Northwest Territories from February 14 to 26, 2012.

It is the biggest and most complex Army-led exercise ever undertaken in the Canadian Arctic. It will allow our soldiers to reacquire winter soldier skills and improve the Canadian Army Arctic capabilities. We need to be able to shoot, move and communicate in harsh Arctic conditions.

Being able to operate in the Arctic is directly identified in the first of the six core missions within the Canada First Defence Strategy.

February 27 - Message from Commander Canadian Army

Ladies and Gentlemen - Leaders,

You made the ASM, CWO Moretti and I extremely proud. It was great to see so many soldiers, rangers, sailors, airmen and women training together with so much enthusiasm. This passion and professionalism is a direct reflection of your leadership. Thank you for planning, executing and supporting an important training event for our Army. You created exciting and demanding training that has heightened our ability and confidence to work in our north.

Respectfully,

Peter Devlin
