Lieutenant Justin Boyes

On October 28, 2009 Lieutenant Justin Boyes, 26, was killed by an improvised explosive device that detonated near their dismounted patrol. He was leading a platoon tasked with mentoring Afghan National Police officers at the time of the explosion.

He was a member of 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (3 PPCLI), based out of Edmonton Alberta. Two other soldiers were injured in the explosion.
