MWO Shawna Mochnacz/ BSM

Band sargeant majorMaster Warrant Officer Shawna Mochnacz, originally from Erickson, Manitoba, joined the Canadian Forces upon completion of her Bachelor of Music Degree in Applied Performance (Clarinet) from Brandon University in 1992. She was posted to the Air Command Band in Winnipeg MB, where she spent seven years as the clarinet section leader before posting to The Royal Canadian Artillery Band in Edmonton AB in January 2000.   

       While in Edmonton, MWO Mochnacz served as the  clarinet  section Leader for ten years,  and  in 2004, she was promoted Warrant Officer. Upon completion of her QL7 Conducting Course in Borden ON, she became the 4 Wing Bandmaster in Cold Lake AB, in October 2010. Along with her military musical training in Borden ON, Shawna has studied conducting with Dr. Glenn Price, Wendy Grasdahl, and Wayne Toews.

     On  30 June 2011, MWO Mochnacz was appointed The RCA Band Sergeant Major. She was promoted to her current rank on 14 July 2011.

      Master Warrant Officer Mochnacz has traveled the world  due  to the Department of National Defense, proudly representing Canada in such places as Sweden, South Korea, Germany, Bermuda, Bosnia, Netherlands, and all over North America. Although she has enjoyed her travels, Shawna prefers to spend her free time at her cabin outside Riding Mountain National Park.
